The RUGGED’s 5” tall ultra-low-profile design is the lightest, thinnest rooftop tent on the market today at 113 lbs. and will allow most vehicles to pull into residential garages and parking structures without having to remove the rooftop tent. *

Rugged Tent

Let’s start saying that the Rugged is Bad Asssssss.I got compliments wherever I go.It jus look right on top of my Gladiator.Bkack and Orange is always a winner.(thought Il die for the new PMT in camo)
I find myself in regular parking lots opening the tent so people can see it after the reach out to me 👍👍👍.
Like the Keith said the pad is not really effective after 3 am(just bought a 2 in memory foam topper from AMZ) and a 3 mm insolation pad and glued to the aluminum roof(DONE)
Got a matching black and orange ladder as well cus my OCD is stronger than my wallet.
We love this tent made in USA by USA workers.

Rugged Tent

I love my new tent!!! I recently purchased a BadAss RUGGED™ ROOF TOP TENT was able to attach with the 6 included L brackets to the factory Yakima brand rails on my SnugTop Truck Bed Camper top. Really happy with the perceived strength of the mount and the low profile. Have driven highway speeds (80 mph) and it was rock solid, did not move.

My 6 year old son and I slept in the driveway the first night (his Idea). It got down to 28º that night!!! My son did well until about 05:30 when he got cold and we went inside.

Initially when we laid down on the included “sleeping surface”. This is a relatively dense about 1” covered foam pad. At first it felt firm but comfortable. As the night progressed, perhaps because of the low temperature, it began to become very hard and uncomfortable. So a good sleeping base but not good to sleep directly on.

I have purchased 2 Thermarest mattress 20” wide each and they fit very well side by side and because of the base this makes a very comfortable sleep surface.
The top is a piece of aluminum which is nice but if your feet touch the aluminum at night they will be very cold. I found some nice 3mm aluminized insulation that I glued to the entire top. Provides enough insulation so that you can touch without your feet getting cold and also adequate to keep the condensation away, even at 28º.

Could consider:
Cutouts for gas struts. I ended up milling a small amount of material off as to not catch the struts on opening and closing
Softer sleep pad, cannot sleep on surface, purchased two Thermarest mattresses to sleep on
Its a little short, I am 6’1” and I barely touch at both ends
Accidentally forgot about the tent and drove through a Carwash, Tent was completely dry!!!
